Welcoming Reception
- Saturday, 16 March 2024, 5 p.m.
- Please join us in the Armory of the Manchester DoubleTree Hotel to visit with friends and colleagues and
officially kick-off the 59th Annual Meeting of the Northeastern Section of the Geological Society of America.
Exhibits will be open, and hors d’ oeuvres and one complementary drink are included with each registration. A
cash bar is also available.
45-minute Full-body Fitness Class
- Sunday–Tuesday, 17–19 March 2024, 6:15–7 a.m., Hale Room
- Join Anita Monk-Ryan, GSA Finance Director, for a 6:15 a.m. low-impact fitness class. Each class we will do
a warm-up, low-impact cardio, muscle toning, and a cool-down.
What do you need?

Athletic shoes: running, cross trainers, walkers, court shoes, any of these will work as
long as you are comfortable and can move in them.
- Comfortable clothing: leggings, sweatpants, shorts, t-shirts, tank tops. Anything that
you will feel comfortable sweating in.
- Water bottle: for hydration, and it can also be used as resistance for the muscle
toning sections.
- Towel: used to wipe sweat and for the floor if you decide to take on the extra
challenge.
- SMILE! – even if you can’t when you get there, I hope the class will give you the
positive energy for the rest of the day.

ES-SEPM Meeting and Reception

- Join the Eastern Section of the Society for Sedimentary Geology (ES-SEPM) and the Sedimentary Geology
Division of GSA for their annual meeting and reception. The Keynote speaker for the event is Dr. Dennis Terry,
Associate Professor, Dept. of Earth and Environmental Science, Temple University, and Chair-elect of the GSA
Soils and Soil Processes Division. This is a non-ticked event, and everyone is welcome. Snack/hors d’oeuvres
will be served, and beverages available nearby.
Town Hall Panel Discussion: Recruiting the New Generation of Geoscientists
- Monday, 18 March 2024, 5:30–7 p.m., Pemigewasset and Assembly Rooms
- All are invited to this panel discussion that will feature individuals from colleges/universities, the K–12
community, federal and state geologic agencies and the private consulting industry discussing the future needs
across all sectors of the geoscience community, and the importance of recruiting younger individuals into the
geosciences to fulfill these needs.

Map and Art Blast
- Monday, 18 March 2024, 7–9 p.m., The Armory
- Originating at the Portland NEGSA meeting in 1998, this annual event invites all meeting attendees to post
and informally discuss newly published and in progress geologic maps, digital images, and geo-artwork of all
sorts. No abstract submission is required. Cash bar and light hors d’ oeuvres available.
