At the Geological Society of America, part of Our Vision is to foster the human quest for understanding Earth, planets and life. Earth Science education is at the core of the National Education Standards. The Society is dedicated to increasing the appreciation of the Earth's history, processes, and resources. Please read more about our Teacher Advocate Program and the support it provides to our nations' Earth science educators. |
Year of Science 2009
GSA is participating in the Community Project to Promote the Public Understanding of Science (COPUS).
"Many in the scientific community see the need for a coordinated and sustained effort by scientists to engage the public directly and with the help of communications experts, to do a better job of explaining the nature of science, and to be ready to learn about and adapt to public perceptions of science in the process." POST YOUR LESSON PLANS!!
If you have a unique and tested lesson plan that you would like to share with your Earth science colleagues, please submit to GSA for display on our Web site! Please submit the lesson plan to the GSA Distinguished Earth Science Educator as an e-mail attachment either as is, or by completing our Lesson Plan Template (MS Word format). Once your lesson plan is approved, it will be posted on our Web site with its own URL. We will then extend the reach of your work by submitting it to DLESE (Digital Library for Earth System Education), a community-based effort to disseminate high-quality learning materials. Visit DLESE or contact the current GSA Distinguished Earth Science Educator, +1-303-357-1082, for further information. We appreciate and look forward to your contributions.
