2015 Northeastern Section Meeting

50th Annual Meeting & Golden Anniversary
Bretton Woods, New Hampshire  |  2325 March

Inspiring Geology for 50 Years

This is another very special meeting for the Northeastern Section, this time to celebrate its 50th Anniversary. The spectacular Omni-Mount Washington Resort in Bretton Woods will host us again for this important occasion. Come join us to learn, exchange, and network with colleagues, associates, and friends.

We are returning to The Omni-Mount Washington Resort “by popular demand.” Its location, graceful atmosphere, scenery, and staff, that together supported our record-setting meeting in 2013, will again furnish an extraordinary venue in which to share this special occasion. As those of you who attended 2013 already know, the venue is unlike any before, and we hope everyone will join us for this Golden Anniversary event. It’s shaping up to be an informative, unusual, and not-to-be-missed meeting.

The Resort is again joining our celebration by offering deeply discounted room rates and ski tickets for all who register for the meeting. In addition, those who either come beforehand to relax and prepare or to stay after the meeting to reflect and look forward can enjoy these reduced rates, housing options, and all the Resort amenities from three days before until three days after the meeting (20-28 March 2015)—an extraordinary chance to fully enjoy this spectacular locale and our Golden Anniversary.

The meeting’s Technical Program will again be its centerpiece, offering a creative mix of technical sessions, internal events, field trips, and workshops intended to inform attendees about both past and recent research and methodological developments associated with geoscience in the Section and to explore the many ways geoscience is applied today. In particular, the program will include new and innovative sessions for both students and mentors curious about, and interested in networking with, active practitioners and firms in various fields of applied geoscience about the career opportunities they offer.

The 2015 Organizing Committee is eager to receive, and encourages you to submit, proposals for symposia, theme, and topical sessions on any topic in the geosciences or the Section’s 50-year history, as well as field trips, workshops, or short courses you think may be of interest. Please send proposals to any of the following people by 6 June 2014.

NEGSA, Bretton Woods 2015 Technical Program Committee: Gary Johnson (chair), Dartmouth College; Woody Thompson, Maine Geological Survey; Rick Chormann, New Hampshire Geological Survey; Lisa Doner, Plymouth State University.
