Scientists have recreated the action of the 1906 San Francisco earthquake in a detailed depiction of the temblor's severity. The digital video was recently unveiled on the USGS Web site. The site also shows how the Loma Prieta quake of 1989 ruptured the ground when it struck with a much smaller magnitude of 7.1.

The El Niño Theme Page from the U.S. National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration (NOAA) explains the El Niño and La Niña climate phenomena in basic terms and also offers researchers access to various data sets from NOAA and other sources.
