The U.S. National Academies offer a collection of resources related to evolution. Included are reports, position statements, and other documents that assist teachers and others in better understanding evolution. A synopsis of the evidence for evolution and a guide for helping students learn how science works are also available. [ view site ]

The Science of Spectroscopy, a NASA-sponsored project on the use of light to study matter, is a digital library which allows anyone to contribute content. Communicating the Value of Geoscience


GSA Position Statement on Data Preservation Under Development
Council has approved a request from the Geology and Public Policy Committee to develop a position statement on the importance of preserving geoscience collections and data sets. The panel established to research the issue and draft the statement seeks member input. Deadline for submitting comments and suggestions: 1 September 2005.

In addition to Congressional Visits Day on Capitol Hill in May, we can visit Representatives and Senators in their home offices during the August recess. Research by Kelsey et al. documenting the tsunami history of an Oregon coastal lake and its relationship to great earthquakes along the Cascadia subduction zone (GSA BULLETIN, July/August 2005), was reported by Science, the San Francisco Chronicle, and Knight-Ridder News Service.
