Active Geology Paper Models CD-ROM Active Geology Paper Models CD-ROM
Bring geology to life with the materials on Active Geology Paper Models. This CD contains twenty-one three dimensional paper models to help students understand active geologic concepts. These models will bring the abstract into the concrete as students construct volcanoes, a spreading ridge, fault blocks, a tsunami, and even a subduction zone, among others. You will find these model templates invaluable in helping teach plate tectonics, earthquakes, and volcanoes. (All grades)
Explore Caves & Karst Explore Caves & Karst
Discover the world of caves in your classroom. The CD contains teacher notes, student activities, loads of cave images and a 3-D block model of a cave. Students can try their hands at mapping as well as calculate cave formation growth rates. (I, S)
Climate Change Throughout History Explore Climate Change throughout Earth History
Add some real power to your climate change topic! Explain to your students what factors can change our climate and have students do activities using data from tree rings, ice cores, fossils and much more. CD contains teacher notes, student activities and answers, printable cut-out models and many great full-color images. (I, S)
Explore Cross Sections CD-ROM Explore Cross Sections
This CD-ROM contains a selection of diagrams showing basic rock relationships, and a series of cross-section activities where students need to work out the geological history of the area in the cross section. Diagrams are in color or black and white. A great addition to your cross-section curriculum!
This resource has been developed by geoscience faculty. (S, U)
Explore Deep Time CD-ROM Explore Deep Time
Geologic Time and Beyond – If you are teaching about deep time, geologic time and/or absolute time, you will want this CD-ROM! Enhance your teaching with background on the history of our understanding of deep time and explanations of relative age dating and radiometric dating. Full teacher notes, reproducible student activities and suggested answers in PDF format are complimented by colorful diagrams and models to use in your classroom.
This resource has been developed by geoscience teachers for geoscience teachers and the matierials are curriculum linked to National Science Standards. (I, S)
Explore Earth Cycles CD-ROM Explore Earth Cycles
What is the Chemistry of the Earth? Where are chemicals stored and how do they move around our planet?
Explore Earth Cycles CD ROM provides middle/high school teachers with all the information, activities and data to provide their students great classroom experiences! CD contains full teaching notes, colorful diagrams and raw data which students can manipulate and place onto periodic tables. Content covers the National Standards for "Geochemical Cycles". (I, S, U)
Explore Earthquakes CD-ROM Explore Earthquakes
All the very best Earthquake teaching resources all on one CD ROM! A great collaboration of GSA and IRIS Consortium (Incorporated Research Institutions for Seismology) Teaching notes, student activities, fact sheets, images and 3D models.
This resource has been developed by geoscience teachers for geoscience teachers. (I, S)
Explore Energy CD-ROM Explore Energy
Explore the different types of energy, the use of energy, including electricity, and the different technologies we employ and are developing to meet our energy needs. The CD-ROM includes extensive teacher background, energy activities, and colorful 3-D models to use in your classroom. (I, S))
Explore Forensic Geology CD-ROM Explore Forensic Geology
Use forensic geology to help your students study earth science topics such as minerals, rocks, soils, even stratigraphy! Your students will feel like CSI detectives when trying to solve crimes involving sediments, minerals, or even glass and paint. CD contains teacher notes, student activities, images, and PowerPoint presentations. (Grades 8-12).
Fossils CD-ROM Explore Fossils
Build on your students fascination with fossils by using these specially designed resources. Full teacher notes, easily reproducible activities and 3-D models will have your students all budding paleontologists! (E, I)
Science & Technology of Gold CD-ROM Explore Science & Technology of Gold
Everything you need to add science and technology to your gold rush history unit. Teacher notes, images, student activities and 3-D Models. Let your students explore science and technology while they learn the history of gold. (E, I)
Explore Plate Tectonics CD-ROM Explore Plate Tectonics
Plate Tectonics is one the most excellent examples of the scientific process at work. Help your students understand the history and current evidence of the plate tectonics theory with this resource-packed CD-ROM. Full teacher notes, reproducible student activities and suggested answers in PDF format are complimented by fantastic images, diagrams and three 3-D model cutouts to use in your classroom.
This resource has been developed by geoscience teachers for geoscience teachers and the materials are curriculum linked to the National Earth and Space Science standards (I, S).
Explore Silicate Minerals CD-ROM Explore Silicate Minerals
Why not enhance your Silicate Minerals class by using this innovative teaching resource. Exemplary teaching notes and student activities are enhanced by color images of silicate minerals from each of the major groups. Just download the images and fantastic color diagrams straight into your presentations. Give your students corresponding b/w handouts along with activities that have them using ternary diagrams, plotting phase changes and more.
This resource has been developed by teachers for teachers ... so you know it works! (S, U)
Explore Tsunami CD-ROM Explore Tsunami
Explore Tsunami contains teaching notes, student activities, images, web links and a 3D cut out model. This is a great way to introduce the science of tsunami to your students in middle, high school and introductory college.(I, S, U)
Landform Geology Paper Models CD-ROMGeology on Paper - Landform Geology Paper Models
Bring geology landforms to life with these three-dimensional paper models that students can construct in the classroom. These templates will bring the abstract into the concrete as students construct models of landforms formed by ice (glaciers), wind, and water. Includes a 3-D model of the Grand Canyon, and a 'just for fun' bonus model of the land of Oz. You will find these model templates invaluable in helping you teach earth science. (All grades)
