The Geological Society of America provides a global forum for knowledge-sharing and networking among geoscientists. Serving members in over 95 countries, GSA programs unite the global science community in shaping the future of the Earth sciences. Wherever you live or work, GSA invites you to become involved by joining our network.
Please use the links at the top-right to explore International Section programs.
Note that new GSA membership options allow you to be a member of more than one Section. So if you were a member of one of the North American Sections, you can choose to continue that membership and add an International Section membership. If you have been previously unaffiliated with a geographic Section, you can join the International Section at no cost.
Everyone gets one free Section membership - additional affiliations cost US$2.
We have multiple purposes:
- to provide a forum for and to coordinate meetings, symposia, conferences, and lecture tours on the geology of regions beyond North America,
- to provide a focal point for exchange of views by North American geologists working overseas,
- to raise funds for foreign colleagues and students to participate in annual GSA meetings,
- to strengthen cooperation with overseas geoscientific societies.
GSA International Distinguished Lecture Tour
The Geological Society of America is proud to introduce the 2014 International Distinguished Lecture Tour, arranged under the auspices of the GSA International Section. GSA seeks to be a leader in promoting programs that actively involve the global community in geoscience activities, in fulfillment of our strategic goals. This tour is another step forward in communicating the importance and relevance of the geosciences in a global context.
